Fall has officially arrived in Minnesota. The leaves are turning the most magnificent shades of yellow, orange and red. The nights are getting crisp and there’s a chill in the air. It’s the PERFECT weather for snuggling up to a nice, warm bonfire! And with bonfires come s’mores!

Sure, you might think it’s hard to beat the classic s’mores combo of a roasted marshmallow, graham cracker and Hershey’s chocolate bar. But, ladies, let me tell ya…you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! The discovery of this AMAZING combination of all things heavenly happened by accident. Bonfires are a staple activity at our house, whether it be with my kiddos or with my girlfriends. Once in awhile my husband lays claim to the fire pit patio but usually the ladies reign.

*I digress…* Back to my point, the kids wanted to have a fire and make s’mores. We were completely out of Hershey’s chocolate bars and I wasn’t in the mood to drive to the gas station to replenish our stock. (Which is pretty darn lazy on my part because the gas station is only a half mile away!) So I dug through the “treat basket” to see if I could find a few mini Hershey bars leftover from Halloween past. Well, no luck on the Hershey bars but I DID find a bag of mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups…hmmm…the wheels were turning…I bet THESE would taste good with marshmallows and graham crackers! I was right. They were OUTSTANDING!

The next time I was at the grocery store I picked up a mixed bag of bite-size candy bars. OH MY GOSH! They were so good! My personal favorite is a Snickers bar s’more. We also shook things up a little more and used cinnamon graham crackers for an additional flavor sensation! I’m telling’ ya…this is perfection, absolute perfection!

Here’s what you need:

  • Marshmallows
  • Regular graham crackers
  • Cinnamon graham crackers
  • Mixed bag of bite-size candy  bars
  • Roasting sticks
  • Wet towel

IMPORTANT TIP: BEFORE you roast your marshmallow, get out your graham crackers and candy bar. Place the unwrapped candy bar on a graham cracker and set it next to the fire so the candy bar warms up and becomes soft while you roast your marshmallow. This makes it MUCH easier to assemble and eat your s’more.
